The virtual fleet concept is similar to the concept of a virtual reality. A virtual reality is a video game in which you are in a point of view. In VR, the player actually is in the perspective of the avatar. A virtual fleet is a fleet that is designed to play with other fleets, but the fleets themselves are not the player.
Like a virtual fleet, a virtual reality is a form of augmented reality. In augmented reality, the real world is overlaid with virtual information such that it is possible to see into the real world through a computer screen. While in VR, the player is actually inside the virtual world.
The advantage of virtual fleet is that the player is actually inside the virtual fleet. In real naval battles, the fleet commanders usually sit on a deck or a bridge. In virtual fleet, the fleet commander actually lives in the fleet’s virtual fleet, he flies in it, he fights in it, he is in it.
The virtual fleet is still a bit of a work in progress, and there are a lot of unanswered questions still. I haven’t been able to do much yet, but there are a few things I’m working on. First off, when a fleet commander flies inside the virtual fleet, they are actually in the fleet, not the real fleet.
I’m still working on my fleet strategy, but I’ve had a lot of fun with the virtual fleet concept so far. It’s a great way to test ideas out, to see where they go and what they can do, even if they are not the most practical of ideas.
